In the world of retail trading, new indicators pop up almost daily — each claiming to offer a secret edge or unbeatable accuracy.
The Slingshot Indicator is one of the latest entries in this crowded space, marketed as a “hidden momentum detector” for the TradingView platform. Its creators promise a straightforward way to spot high-probability trading setups across a curated list of major stocks and ETFs.
What the Slingshot Indicator Claims to Do
According to the promotional material, the Slingshot Indicator identifies what it calls “hidden momentum” — subtle signs that a stock is building up strength before a potential move higher. The indicator uses a simple, color-coded system to communicate its signals:

Yellow candles indicate a warning phase, suggesting that a setup may be forming.

A blue candle with a vertical arrow marks the buy signal.

Blue and red lines represent the profit target and stop loss levels, respectively.
The marketing pitch highlights well-known tickers such as NVIDIA, Microsoft, Amazon, Eli Lilly, Walmart, Progressive Insurance, and even Gold (GLD). Supposedly, the indicator achieves win rates between 85% and 92%, focusing exclusively on about 20 “high-quality” stocks and ETFs that have been optimized for these signals.
Here is an example of the sling shot buy signal (blue candle) and profit target (horizontal blue line).
How It’s Presented
The sales presentation for the Slingshot Indicator is polished and persuasive. It includes examples of successful trades, bold performance statistics, and enticing claims like “turning $1,000 into $10,000” through perfectly timed entries.
The creator (Ben Losier) also emphasizes that the system is simple enough for beginners — requiring no coding knowledge and just a few clicks to install on TradingView.

Slingshot Indicator Review: Back-Testing
It’s relatively unusual for an indicator system to give back-testing results. The slingshot indicator does give a plethora of back-testing results for several of the key stocks it works the best on. Here are some of the back-testing results…..
Around a 90% win-rate is pretty impressive on those stocks and there are more results shown on the sales page here.

Slingshot Indicator Review: Conclusions
The Slingshot Indicator is an interesting concept, especially for traders who prefer a visual, signal-based approach. It may well be the best swing trading indicator out there from my experience reviewing these indicators over the last 10 years.
