Blake Young’s “Deep Currents Alerts” are part of his content and trading education offered through TheoTrade. These alerts are designed to give traders ongoing insights into market behavior, trade setups, and the broader forces moving markets—what Blake calls the “deep currents” beneath price action.
TheoTrade Deep Currents Review: Who is Blake Young?
Blake Young worked with Don Kaufman from TheoTrade at ThinkorSwim. Blake started trading in the late 90’s he worked side by side with Don at ThinkorSwim within the educational department.
They now work together at TheoTrade.
Blake Young is a veteran futures trader and educator at TheoTrade, with over 20 years of experience in the financial markets. His background includes roles as a Commodity Trading Advisor (CTA), hedge fund manager, senior currency analyst, and trading coach. Over the years, he’s taught thousands of traders—from beginners to professionals—how to navigate markets effectively.
Blake’s trading style, which he calls “technofundamentalism,” blends fundamental analysis to find trade opportunities and technical analysis for precise entry, exit, and risk management. He’s known for saying, “I’d rather miss a good trade than take a bad one.”
At TheoTrade, Blake leads several in-depth training programs:

The Blake Young Deep Currents service started at TheoTrade in the middle of 2024. I joined in 2025.
TheoTrade Deep Currents Review: What Type of Trading?
The basic idea is that Blake rotates into strong ‘currents’ or sectors that he identifies to minimize risk. I think that is where the name comes from – he see’s money as flowing between sectors in the markets.
The idea is he will go long the strong ‘currents’ as they rise and at the same time short the weaker currents and move out of them. He likes his current analogy a lot.
The style of trading is suppose to replace your current retirement portfolio with a more active trading approach that minimizes the drawdowns by reducing portfolio volatility.
You get weekly Deep Current alerts that will alert either opening a position, closing a position or adjusting a position.
The main style is trading a variety of different types of spreads to reduce the amount of capital needed for the trades.
The positions are typically held for 7 – 80 days. So quite the range. It’s a fairly hands-off service it has more of an investment feel than a typical program.

The portfolio is typically a mix of long equities, vertical spreads, butterflies etc.
TheoTrade Deep Currents Review: Track Record
Blake does keep a track record of all his opened and closed trades. However, there is no overall summary to show the overall P/L for the strategies.
It’s impossible to know if the portfolio is positive or negative at the time of writing. Here is a screenshot of some of his track record of closed positions….
You can see the individual tickers but nothing about the type of trade or a running P/L. It looks like a mix of winners and losers but it’s impossible to tell if the strategy actually works!
TheoTrade Deep Currents Review: Conclusions
I hope this short TheoTrade Deep Currents Review (Blake Young) helps you know what to expect from the service. It could be a good choice for people that really want to learn how to build a longer-term focused portfolio. There is a 12-Week Deep Currents Mastery Mastermind course that is very helpful.
Blake Young has a lot of credibility which is a strong positive for the service.
However, with no readily available track record most of the value is likely to come from the educational aspect of the service rather than the Deep Current Alerts.
Blake Youngs Deep Currents is also not cheap. The price varies but I’ve seen it offered for $1995 for a year.
