Trading is not an easy venture. It is one of the hardest businesses that I have ever been involved with. One of the keys that successful traders indulge in is diligent journaling of their trades.

Chartlog is a journaling tool that allows day or swing traders to record and then analyze their trades over time. It has the capability of importing data directly from your trading platform – this makes it super easy and therefore I actually might stick to it!

Chartlog Founders
This program came about from a collaboration with two members of the Bear Bull Traders community.
Adrian Campos and Igor Milivojevic are day traders that saw a gap in the market for a really good journaling tool. They are software developers and joined forces in 2019 to launch Chartlog.
They seem to genuinely want to help traders to achieve consistency in their trading.
How Chartlog Works
Here are some of the features that make Chartlog a powerful tool for your trading.
It Starts with the Trading Journal
While the program does allow for automatic real-time data imports, you still have to write your own notes on the trades in the journal.
The software has a nice layout that lets you access any day’s performance and check out the profits, winning % etc. It gives a list of the positions for that day and includes an interactive chart to show your entries and exits.

Chartlog Charting Features
The charting features of the software are very powerful. You can add over 100 indicators (all the ones you have heard of plus more!). You can draw very easily on the charts to add your thoughts on it (think flags etc.).
The charting software also helps you to see what you could have done better on a chart.
They also offer custom fields to track whatever metrics a trader thinks is important for their performance.

Chartlog Automatic Data Imports
For lazy traders like myself, having the software pull in you trades in real-time is a game changer. Manually importing trade data is one of the biggest hurdles for people to get started journaling – especially if you are a very active trader.

Chartlog Statistics Analysis
Charlogs provides you with all the data you need to ‘fix’ your mistakes in trading.
You get a lot of data, but here is some of the most useful for me.
- Winner accuracy (%)
- Average P/L per position
- Average Winner/Loser profit
- Average Profit and Loss per day
- Biggest win and loss.
The software makes it very easy to see all of this data and more.

Testing trading strategies is a key to success. You can make a library of trading strategies that you can have trades imported to depending on which strategy they were deployed under.

Chartlog Review: Conclusion
Chartlog is awesome. I think for most intermediate traders could benefit from this journaling and analytics tool to help improve. It is the lowest cost for what you get.
From our analysis, we believe that Chartlog is worth trying out. Besides being cheaper than other journaling programs in the market, it will provide you with all the means to gauge your trading performance.
